Research papers of Dr. W. David Baird, used in writing the book Medical education in Arkansas, 1879-1978. Records consist of reprints, photocopies, research by his students, his research notes, and oral interviews concerning the history of medicine in Arkansas. Material of special interest includes information on the Sulphur Rock/Gate City Medical School; departmental histories and reports; copies from the personal papers of Storm Whaley, Hayden Nicholson, Douglas Lawrason, and the General Education Board; an audiotape of a talk to the freshmen medical students of 1981/82 on October 2, 1981; and book reviews of Medical education in Arkansas, 1879-1978.
